For the past few seasons, there has been a reigning All-Star backcourt in Toronto. This duo, consisting of Kyle Lowry and Demar Derozan, have been Toronto's only All-Stars in the Dwane Casey era, but now that the organization has moved on from both Casey and Derozan, let's take a look in to the future, at the potential All-Stars on the Raptors' roster for the upcoming season.
Kawhi Leonard: If Kawhi Leonard, who the Raptors acquired from San Antonio in July for Derozan, plays to the best of his ability, he has not only the potential to be picked to the Eastern Conference All-Star squad, he could be the NBA's Most Valuable Player. His naturally gifted mix of strength, size, athleticism, and length, paired with his three point shooting prowess and league-best defense, make him almost a shoo-in for an All-Star squad if he plays even half as well as he did in the 2016-'17 campaign. Expect Kawhi to be the second-most vote-getter, just a few votes ahead of Joel Embiid, and behind only Giannis.
Verdict: All-Star.
Kyle Lowry: A multiple-time All-Star with the Raptors, due to a combination of more exciting, more talented younger guards, (i.e. John Wall, Kemba Walker, Ben Simmons, and Kyrie Irving) and his increasing age, this might be the year to end Kyle's little run as an All-Star.
Verdict: Close, but doesn't quite make the cut.
Pascal Siakam: As much as I don't expect this to happen, I really hope it does. This guy has been playing basketball since he was 17 years old. 17! His ceiling is incredibly high, immeasurably so. He works hard on both ends, and is almost everyone's favourite Raptor to watch. So, while maybe not this year, expect Siakam to be an All-Star very, very soon.
Verdict: Not quite yet.
