Normal Powell Looking Ready to Make a Comeback

Pretty much everyone in the basketball community, fans and media alike, have seen the video of Paul George, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, and other NBA stars playing some pickup ball at UCLA. Not as widely known however, is the strong presence of the Raptors' "Bench Mob" in the video. Delon Wright, OG Anunoby, Fred Vanvleet, to name but a few of the young second line in Toronto hooping against some of the league's best. Although each Bench Mob member put on a show and put up a strong fight, Norman Powell was particularly impressive, playing the strong defence and the quietly aggressive offensive style that made him every Raptor fan's hero in the 2016 Eastern Conference Finals, when he became the spark that his team needed to win a crucial Game 5.

After slowly falling out of the starting lineup, and eventually the rotation altogether, in the 2017-'18 season, some people expected Powell to be cut or traded, possibly as a part of the (at the time) speculated Kawhi Leonard trade package. This video lit a small spark of hope among Raptor fans for a comeback season after the disappointment of his latest season.

However, I do know that it's just a pickup game, and probably no player in that gym was playing full-out, in order to avoid injury. So, while we can't get too excited about this recent development, it does allow us to be a little bit hopeful.
